In loving memory of cyril arthur smith who sadly passed away on the 4th of february 2006 aged 83
years old. he worked hard all his life as a boiler man in west bromwich where he was born and spent
his life raising his six children with wife freda. The last five years of his life he battled with
motor neurone disease which affected everything he did in his life. He was strong through out. When
diagnosed with it in january 2001 the doctors gave him 18 months but he stayed with us for an extra
five years which we were extremely grateful for, tho it was hard to watch him suffer the way he did.
At the end he caught phenumonia and gave up his battle surrounded by his wife, sons and daughters.
He worked hard all his life to provide for his family. For a family man he was indeed but with 6
children and 14 grandchildren he had little choice...
He was a man of few words but those he did speak were very wise. He was a very clever man who used
to say he was "the human calculator" and we believe he was. He also had a comical side which he
brought out mainly for the grandchildren to keep them entertained and he never failed to do so...
He was a huge fan of "the baggies" (WBA), snooker and darts.
He meant everything to his family, loved by us all very much and missed every single day... Forever
in our hearts love you Husband, Dad,Grandad and Great-Grandad xxx

It's been 4 yrs since god called your name and an angel came and took u by the hand 4 yrs since we last saw your face heard your voice and held your hand those moments I will never forget grandad memories i have I hold close to my heart those memories will always be part of me but if I could exchange the memories for a hug and kiss off my grandad I would just for a moment just to see u once more. Please look after our angels who r with u in gods garden like u looked after us love u miss u xxx

it's been 4yrs since i kissed you goodbye dad,you tried so hard to stay with us,but you were so tired.we were all with you when you took your last breath.its a day i'll never forget that day.you were the head of our family,the one who held us together,you loved us all equally.i have great memories of you i cherish everyone of them, you could be so funny dad without even tryin.you'd wink your eye,twiddle your thumbs,and when you got up to dance....WOW ... what a groovy mover you were,haha.i miss you dad more than words can say.since you went away your family as grown,but we have also lost some precious people.i hope you are takin care of them in heaven,like you took care of us when you were here.i love you dad & wish i could kiss & have a big hug off you,one more time.

hi dad its been 4 long years since i kissed you and said goodbye but the memories of you seem like only yesterday . we were watchin some old videos of all the family last night you looked so tall, fit & healthy your voice so strong &clear oh and that unique smile of yours along with the wink of the eye was so lovely to see once again, those were the good old days when we just to have so much fun & laughter if only we could go back in time i would snatch every second of those days to bottle up & seal them tightly for sad times like now to help us through the days/ weeks/years without you in our lives I love n miss you so much dad xxx

Happy Birthday Grandad. I hope u have had a really nice day with all our loved ones up in heaven. I bet they have threw u a great party i hope my little boy has been behaving himself for u on your special day. Miss you. Nan is going out for a meal with Bob and Kath like tradition they used to take u both out for your b'day and kath's, so i told her to raise a glass to u for me. Nan misses u loads and it hurts more on day like this but dont worry we all look after her for u. Anyway grandad ill stop the waffling now and let u get back to your party. Love you xxx
